Statement of Purpose

You may ask why? Why another so-called left-wing political site? Why? Why? Why?
Well, in short I can no longer stand on the sidelines as the Bush administration ruins our country with their total
disregard for civil liberties, law, and balance of power. The phrase; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness has no
meaning to these people that stole at least two elections.

I am also tired of staying silent as our rights are eroded daily, it seems like a betrayal to the founders of our country
and those who fashioned the Constitution. It was Benjamin Franklin that said; Those who give up a little liberty for
sake of security, deserve neither liberty nor security.

Over the last several years I have read a significant number of books on the founding of this country, at least
enough to know that half of the crap that the right-wing throws out about the origins of this country and its’ laws is
absolute garbage. This reading has given me a greater sense of why we have the system of government we do, with
the checks and balances system that seem to be disregarded on a daily basis by this current administration.

I travel this country extensively and have been subjected to my fair share of indignities at the hands of the TSA.

Recently, I was in Philadelphia and had some extra time, so I visited the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. For this
guy who grew up in the middle of the country and never got to travel until I was an adult, it was an absolutely
amazing experience (for those who live in the area, please never take what you have for granted, your city and the
historic landmarks truly are a National Treasure). Especially, after all of the reading I had done about the history of
our country.
It was a Friday and somewhat drizzly outside. I made my way via cab to Independence square, I made my way around
to the entrance where the Liberty Bell is housed. There was a group of school kids going through security ahead of
me and being generally rambunctious. I got through security and headed down the long hallway toward the Bell.
There were a lot of presentations on the Liberty Bell, how it was made, what it has meant to various people
throughout history, etc. The most impressive display was a casting taken of the writing around the upper portion of
the bell. You could actually touch the words and feel them, it was the next best thing to touching the Liberty Bell
itself. After I had looked at the displays and finally made my way to the Bell itself, the kids had moved on and there
wasn’t another person in the area, except for the Park service employee. I just stood there and looked at this symbol
of our country, this symbol of our freedom, and I began to weep. Yes, I had water falling out of my eyes right there in
front of the Liberty Bell and I didn’t care. It was an experience I will never forget. But, this was only the beginning. I
made my way across to Independence Hall and took the tour. I got to stand in the very room that the Declaration of
Independence was argued, ratified, and signed. This was also the room where the Constitution was crafted and
ratified. Yes, this also was a moving experience. Enough so, that during that trip is when I decided I would start doing
something to make a difference.

So, here it is. A website dedicated to exposing political chicanery. I am not sure what we evolve into, but at least I
have started doing something…. Thanks for joining me for what may prove to be a wild ride.

BTW - I am also tired of this  War on Terror, how the hell do you wage war on a concept, it is more of a War
of Terror
being perpetrated on the American Public by the Shrub Administration.
