What is Patriotism

According to the right – it is sitting down and shutting up, or so they would have us believe. Bullshit!! I am
tired of this attitude of “don’t challenge me or I will make you disappear” or worse yet “don’t exercise your
crummy First Amendment Rights in my presence”. If we don’t stand up and say something they will certainly
encroach further on our rights…. To quote Martin Niemöller: First they came for the Jews and I did not speak
out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not
a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade
unionist. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I don’t want to be in that position. Call me unpatriotic if you will, I will no longer be silent. I will make noise; so
much that they will want me to disappear. I will not go away.

The climate is if you don’t agree with me you must be unpatriotic, going to hell, or some other extreme form.
While I may not agree with some people I do not wish to wipe them from the face of the earth, they have a
right to their opinion. Freedom of opinion and the freedom to express that opinion is one of the principles on
which this great nation was founded. We can’t go picking and choosing who has that freedom or what is
right or wrong, each person has the right to express that opinion. There is such a thing as decorum and
good taste, however, but I am not the judge of the behavior of anyone but myself. I will admit that I personally
do not agree with those that spread fear and hate with their speech, I have heard it said that karma is a
bitch. They have more baggage than they can carry and should be pitied for their lack of faith and insecurity.

Fear is being foisted upon the American people at an unprecedented rate i.e., daily by those that would
have you believe that they are the moral guardians of society. Yes, the very one’s that tell you to sit down and
shut up are trying to make you believe that we are in imminent danger on a minute by minute basis and they
are the one’s that are keeping the danger in check. I submit to you that it was not until we were attacked that
they sprung into action. They were warned, even though they claim they were not. That fear and the fear
mongering are so very present and real at airports. I travel quite frequently and I have decided that I will not
sit by and let people vomit all over the constitution and other citizens or even non-citizens, I have started to
speak up. It is truly amazing how many people I see give a knowing glance. Decent people afraid to speak
up for fear of recrimination, such as not being allowed to board a plane or worse. It is time for us all to stand
up and speak our mind, no more of this suffering in silence.

Please take a moment and count your blessings, there are people in other parts of the world that live in far
worse conditions than you. The sad fact is that if we don’t speak up we could be there in a few short years.
Don’t let it happen.
Exercise your constitutional rights while you have them. Vote. Stand up. Speak out. Act free. Live Freedom.

Peace
